Attack by NDF militia kills a child, injures three people in Qamishlo

One child was killed, three civilians including a child were injured as result of attacks by NDF militias affiliated to the Damascus government in the city of Qamishlo.

Despite a ceasefire announced on Wednesday night, National Defense Forces (NDF, Difa al-Watani) which is affiliated with the Damascus government, continues to engage in clashes.

Two children, Ehmed Hemûd Hemûd (14) and Mehmûd Mehmûd (10), were injured in the attacks of the Damascus militia on Wahda Street. While both were rushed to hospital, Mehmûd Mehmûd succumbed to his injuries.

Two houses of civilians were targeted near the al-Wahda Crossroads. The attack left 30-year-old Ehmed El Resli and 33-year-old Ehmed Xerqi injured. Kurdish Red Crescent, Heyva Sor a Kurd, teams rushed both to hospital.

Meanwhile, "military security" forces affiliated to the government of Damascus opened fire on the checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces at Sivan Crossroads.

On Wednesday, April 21, a ceasefire was made between the parties, which was mediated by the Russian military police.

However, the Difa al-Watani militias on Thursday violated the ceasefire and fired on the Internal Security Forces on Wahda Street, near the Tay neighborhood in the south of the city.

Internal Security Forces stated that they responded to the attack based on legitimate defense. Sporadic clashes are continuing, according to reports from the ground.

Clashes began at around 22:00 on the night of April 20, when militias of the Damascus government attacked a checkpoint controlled by the Internal Security Forces.

Xalid Milhêm Osman, a member of the Qamishlo Asayish (Security Forces), fell a martyr during the attacks.
