Action for Kurdish leader Öcalan in Qamishlo

Members of Kongreya Star, Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Council of Martyrs' Families have joined the action which will last until March 28.

An action was launched in the northern Syrian city of Qamishlo on Wednesday to draw attention to the situation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and to demand his freedom.

Members of Kongreya Star, Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Council of Martyrs' Families were present at the action which was started in a tent set up at the Ari Park under the leadership of Kongreya Star.

Speaking at a seminar held in the tent where a banner reading "It is time for Leader Apo's freedom" was hung, PYD Executive Board Member Mizgin Ehmed said, "We will continue our struggle as long as the lawyers of Leader Öcalan and his family are denied the right to meet Öcalan."

Ehmed expressed that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan represents "socialism, communal life, free society and will". She emphasized that they do not accept life without Abdullah Öcalan.

Şaha Xelil, spokesperson for Kongreya Star in the Qamishlo Canton, said, “We take seriously the allegation made in the Turkish media regarding the wellbeing of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. As long as there is no meeting with the Leader, we will be on the streets and continue our actions."

Hêvî Seyîd, co-chair of the Qamishli Council of Martyrs' Families, stated that they will continue their actions until the Kurdish People's Leader gains his physical freedom.

PYD Member Yahya Süleyman stated that they relied on the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan and that the action would continue.

The tent action, which will last until March 28, continues with the participation of the Justice Committee and the Women's Justice Council.
