New evacuations from Baghouz expected

SDF paused operations in one of the fronts in Baghouz. New evacuations are expected from the village.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Spokesperson Mustafa Bali issued a statement on Twitter and said operations have been paused in one of the fronts in Baghouz.

Bali said they foresee opening a corridor to evacuate civilians used as human shields by the gangs and ISIS members who want to surrender to the SDF.

Bali added that the SDF fighters continue their advance carefully for the possibility that there could be civilians in other fronts in Baghouz.

From this small area that ISIS is trapped in, 53.000 people have sought refuge with the SDF since early December. There are many women and children among them, as well as thousands of ISIS members who surrendered.
