The White House on Thursday welcomed Abdullah Öcalan's 'Call for Peace and Democratic Society’.
A White House National Security Council spokesperson said: "This is an important development, and we hope it will help reassure our Turkish allies regarding the U.S. partners in the fight against ISIS in northeastern Syria. We believe it will contribute to bringing peace to this troubled region."
A UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: "We welcome progress towards peace and security for the people of Turkey, a close NATO ally and longstanding partner in counter-terrorism. We encourage all parties to engage in a peaceful and constructive process that ensures security, stability, and respect for the rule of law. The UK remains committed to supporting efforts that reduce conflict and promote stability both in Turkey and across the wider region."
