Thousands of Kurdish demonstrators protested Turkish army's military operations against the Kurdish guerrillas despite the ceasefire by the PKK.
Violent protests broke out in Nusaybin, a district of Mardin province as police attacked thousands of demonstrators gathered at the city center to protest Turkish military operations. The protesters fought back by hurdling stones behind road blocks.
As the clashes intensified protesters used molotov coctails against the armored police vehicles. A vehicle was set on fire which was throwing water cannons to the protesters.
Police used real bullets against the protesters in some occasions. At least 12 were detained.
Protesters also clashed with Turkish police in Hakkari city center. Several groups set roadblocks in Bulak, Pehlivan and Merzan quarters of the city. As armored police vehicles moved to remove the roadblocks clashed started with the police. As of tonight the clashes continues.
