Vigil for peace continues in Diyarbakir

While hundreds of people coming from Muþ, Bitlis and Erzurum took over the “peace guard” that was started to demand liberation for Kurdish politicians and human rights defenders remanded in Diyarbakýr, a group walked out from Balýkçýlarbaþý to Metropolitan Municipality.

With the start of the trial of the case opened against Kurdish politicians and human rights defenders in Diyarbakýr 6. High Criminal Court, the act in front of the Metropolitan Municipality got started too. Hundreds of people coming from Bitlis, Muþ and Erzurum took a share in “Peace Vigil” today.

A group of people came together today in front of Dicle Fýrat Culture Center and marched to Daðkapý Square accompanied by drums to ask for liberation of Kurdish politicians.

The mass gathered with Bismil Mayor Cemile Eminoðlu, Çýnar Mayor Ahmet Cengiz, Lice Mayor Fikriye Aytin and Silvan, Bismil, Çýnar and Lice organizations of BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) and chanted slogans and opened banners like  "Bêji serok Apo", “PKK people are here”. The mass marched from Daðkapý Square to Diyarbakýr Metropolitan Municipality, where they were welcomed by hundreds of people coming there for the “Peace Guard”. Woman participators inspired the mass with halays and the typical shout accompanied by drums.

The mass is still waiting in front of the municipal building.
