Van TUHAY-DER says political prisoners are left to face death

Van TUHAY-DER co-chair Kınyas Başak said that the AKP-MHP government defines terrorism according to its own interests and leaves thousands of people facing death during the coronavirus epidemic.

Van TUHAY-DER co-chair Kınyas Başak emphasized that the exclusion of thousands of political prisoners from the new law of execution has no legal explanation.

Speaking to ANF, Başak said that the AKP government passed a law that would put the safety of the society at risk in the long term.

Noting that the "partial amnesty" approved goes against the principle of equality, Başak added: "The AKP-MHP government has defined 'terrorism' according to its own interests and is leaving thousands of people to face death."

Reminding that former members of 'Hizbul-kontra' were released thanks to laws of execution issued earlier, Başak continued: "The AKP government will be the responsible for whatever tragedy unfolds in prisons. I call on the democratic public to be sensitive and to express their solidarity with the thousands of political prisoners left in prison."

Başak underlined that this law of execution actually confirmed the attitude of the government against Kurds. "Is there any other valid reason why thousands of political prisoners have been excluded from this law?" he asked.
