US Senator: Trump is re-evaluating withdrawal from Syria

Stating that Trump is determined to prevent a conflict between Turkey and YPG, he has said, "If we leave now, the Kurds will get in a fight with Turkey, they could get slaughtered. Who would help you in the future?"

US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has met with President Donald Trump, who recently made the controversial decision to pull forces out of Syria.

Addressing to the journalists after the meeting in front of the White House, the Senator has evaluated the conditions of the withdrawal.

Warning the President that withdrawing the soldiers from Syria would endanger national security, Graham has said, "I think we're in a pause situation where we are reevaluating what's the best way to achieve the President's objective of having people pay more and do more," CNN reported.

"After discussions with the President and (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph) Dunford, I never felt better about where we are headed. I think we're slowing things down in a smart way," the Senator has said.

"If we leave now, Kurds are going to get slaughtered"

Graham has also said that he and the President talked about the YPG (People's Protection Units).

Stating that Trump is determined to prevent a conflict between Turkey and YPG, he has said, "If we leave now, the Kurds will get in a fight with Turkey, they could get slaughtered. Who would help you in the future?"

"Buffer zone for Turkey"

Lindsey Graham has told reporters that Trump assured Turkey of having a buffer zone in the region to protect its interests.

According to the US officials who talked to Reuters, on the other hand, the US will allow the YPG to keep the weapons it supplied to keep fighting ISIS.
