Two Kurdish minors severely beaten by the German police

The German police seem to be applying Turkish President Erdoğan’s words “Whether a woman or child, they will get the necessary treatment”. Two minors were severely beaten by the German police and hospitalized in Hannover yesterday.

Kurds and their friends staged a demonstration in protest at Turkey’s invasion operation against Afrin Canton of Northern Syria in Hannover, Germany yesterday.

The mass, set to walk to the Turkish Consulate, faced a crackdown by the German police on the grounds that they held flags of YPG and YPJ. On the other hand around 50 Turkish nationalists answered the call of the AKP and gathered at the scene of the demonstration to stand against the Kurds.

German police attacked the demonstrators and detained 5 young people. It came out today that police severely battered two minors, 15 years old Emin Ataoğlan and 17 years old Muhammed Zaker Amen, both of whom were then hospitalized.

While both minors were battered during detention, it has been revealed that they were beaten further in the police vehicle, which left them with injuries on their backs.

Emin Ataoğlan and Muhammed Zaker Amen were released later on, and received a battery report from a doctor, which stated that the minors suffered bruises and bleeding on their backs and injuries in their elbows.

Another demonstration in solidarity with Afrin had been attacked by AKP supporters at Hannover Airport the day before. Following the incident, Erdoğan claimed that the German police were a mere spectator, and criticised Germany, saying “What kind of a state are you?”
