Turkish parliament extends mandate for cross-border operations

Turkish parliament has extended the mandate of war and invasion submitted by the government.

Turkish Prime Ministry yesterday submitted mandate to the parliament for an extension of the authority to deploy troops to Syria and Iraq.

During an extraordinary session on Saturday, the parliament approved extension of the mandate for cross-border operations against Syria and Iraq for another year.

The motion was approved by a large majority from the Justice and Development Party (AKP), Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Republican People's Party (CHP), while Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies voted against it.
