Turkish Interior Minister said the government is re-evaluating the national security policy and confirmed plans about creating a buffer zone on Turkey-Iraq border.
Minister Besir Atalay told reporters that they are re-evaluating all aspects of Turkish national security policy during his visit to Sirnak. He gave no further details but confirmed reports about creating a buffer zone on Turkey-Iraq border.
For over 20 years Turkish side is pressing to create a buffer zone on the border against Kurdish guerrillas. Kurdish parties and Bagdad government opposed to the plan in the past.
On PKK's decision to extend ceasefire for another month Atalay said "We are busy with our work and program".
