Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-president Aysel Tugluk appealed to Bursa Prosecutors Office to visit the jailed Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imralý High Security Prison.
Tugluk will travel to Gemlik where she will be transferred to the Imralý Island if the prosecutors office grants her permission to visit Ocalan, on Monday.
Last week Tugluk appeal was accepted but the meeting with Ocalan was cancelled because of poor weather conditions.
“I will tell Öcalan that we should resist for peace,” Tuðluk told a Turkish daily newspaper last week. “The cease-fire between 13 August and 20 September was requested by the state. A protocol was made through the negotiations at Ýmralý to achieve this non-action period.” According to the protocol, Öcalan was planning to call for a yearlong cease-fire, but “the state has not fulfilled the promises given,” Tuðluk said.
In the September meeting, Öcalan warned that if the government did not take any steps toward a solution by Oct. 3, he would remove himself from the process.
The ceasefire, declared by the PKK, will expire tomorrow. Kurdish sources say therefore Ocalan's meeting with Tugluk carries a significant importance.
