The AKP and its trustees organized a snow festival to cover up the rights violations in Hakkari.
The AKP government, which systematically bans all kinds of democratic action activities in Hakkari, organized a snow festival in the city and promoted it with the slogan "There is life in Hakkari".
Yılmaz Erdoğan, who is known for donating 100 thousand TL to the Turkish army as well as AKP members, and Aydın Aydın, who works on TRT 6, attended the festival.
The AKP government and its trustees have been banning actions and activities in Hakkari and its districts for about 6 years, since 2016.
Only AKP-MHP activities are exempted from the prohibitions that have turned Hakkari into an open prison and have been in place for 2080 days.
Since 2019, more than 10 people have been killed by state forces in Hakkari and its districts and dozens of them have been injured. Although the perpetrators of the murders are known, none of them have been tried or punished so far.
The government and the trustee it appointed to the municipality, replacing the freely and legitimately elected HDP mayors, organized the snow festival to hide what has been happening in the city and province for the past 6 years.
Pro-government media that praised the festival, which was not attended by Hakkari people and local and national artists, were also rewarded.
