TEV-ÇAND Europe: We will turn 15 February into a day of victory!

The cultural movement TEV-ÇAND Europe condemned the international conspiracy, culminating on 15 February 1999 with the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan in Kenya, and vowed to transform this ‘Black Day’ into a day of victory.

TEV-ÇAND Europe (European Democratic Movement for Culture and Arts) issued a statement ahead of the anniversary of the international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan, highlighting that the century-old policy of annihilation against the Kurdish people persists today in various forms.

The statement underlined that the conspiracy aimed to suppress the people's struggle for freedom, and added: "The abduction of Abdullah Öcalan on 15 February 1999, was the result of the collaboration of international forces. It was an attack intended to extinguish hope for a free life."

However, added the statement, "Abdullah Öcalan’s paradigm of democratic modernity was highlighted as an alternative to capitalist modernity and a source of hope for the people of the Middle East."

The statement further underlined the 26-year resistance in Imrali prison island.

TEV-ÇAND said that 15 February must become a turning point for the freedom of all people and called for participation in the march and rally to be held in Strasbourg. "The time has come to tear down the walls of isolation in Imrali Prison and raise the voice of freedom. Taking part in this struggle is a historical responsibility in the name of humanity."

Finally, the statement reaffirmed that the fight against the conspiracy will continue with determination and that "the ‘Black Day’ will undoubtedly be turned into a victory."
