Tent action for Abdullah Öcalan in Stockholm

The Stockholm Democratic Kurdish Community Center said that the tent action will continue from 2 to 4.30 on 10 July and called on Kurds and their friends to come before the parliament demanding freedom for Öcalan.

Kurds and their friends have launched a two-day tent event in Stockholm demanding the liberation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Pictures of Abdullah Öcalan were hung in the tent, which was set up in Mynttorget Square in front of the Swedish Parliament.

Activists delivered a press statement written by the Swedish Democratic Kurdish Community Center to Swedish media.

Numerous intellectuals, academics and human rights defenders, including Nelson Mandela's Lawyer Essa Mousa and US intellectual Noam Chomsky, demanded to remove the isolation against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned in the maximum security prison-island of Imrali since 1999.

The statement emphasized that Öcalan is the guarantee to a permanent peace and a democratic solution to the Kurdish problem.
