Ten-year-old boy killed in an explosion in Hakkari

A ten-year-old boy was killed after a device he found exploded in his hands in Yuksekova, a district of Hakkari province.

In Yuksekova a ten-year-old boy died in an explosion on Saturday. The boy had found an object in an open area that was evidently ammunition near Gungor quarter. He was seriously injured and taken to Yuksekova County Hospital.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the child was transferred to Van's hospital, where he lost the battle for his life.

It is not the first time such incidents occur in Northern Kurdistan. Between March 2016 and November 2017, 20 children were killed in such explosions in the Kurdish provinces of Şirnex (Şırnak), Mêrdîn (Mardin), Amed (Diyarbakır) and Colemêrg (Hakkari) and another 33 were injured.
