Temelli: We'll raise our struggle everywhere

This state is trying to intimidate the people with these detentions and attacks, said Temelli. “But it won’t succeed. Greetings to thousands of our comrades in prisons, as they resist, we are getting stronger”.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Sezai Temelli assessed the current developments at his party's group meeting.

Temelli said: “The biggest defeat would actually be to sneak around and breathe with fear: this is what the palace wants. Instead, we will continue to raise our struggle on the street, at home and everywhere. We salute our friends who have raised the struggle and because of this they have been taken into custody. We salute them with respect and affection. They haven’t bowed, they will not bow”.

This state is trying to intimidate the people with these detentions and attacks, said Temelli. “But it won’t succeed. Greetings to thousands of our comrades in prisons, as they resist, we are getting stronger”.

Temelli extended greetings to “Ertuğrul Kürkçü who has been granted an honorary membership by PACE”.

Temelli recalled how, only a week ago, while debating the amnesty, seven more 3rd airport workers were detained. At that meeting 34 workers were detained. Why were they detained? - asked Temelli - Because they rejected these working conditions, this medieval slavery-type of work they wanted to imposed on them. In the AKP-governed country, more than 150 workers die every month”.

Temelli added: “The children who died under the tanks, the workers who committed suicide, the women who are slaughtered: this is the film this power is showing us. We must put an end to this movie”.

International conspiracy, 20 years on

Recalling the 20th anniversary of the international conspiracy which forced Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan to leave Syria, Temelli said: “This is a very critical date for understanding the Middle East and our country. When we look back, we can see where the most basic reason of what we are living today actually lies”.

Temelli reminded of the revolutionary proposal offered by Ocalan. “He worked to build a democratic nation where there is room for all different beliefs, nations and cultures. The Kurdish question was condemned to non-settlement because of the strong response to this proposal. At the root of the problem of democracy we live today, is the non solution of the Kurdish problem”, said Temelli.
