Talabani met Gul

Leaders from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia meet President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan ahead of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit.

Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, is also in Istanbul to participate at the 11th summit of ECO.

Turkish president Abdullah Gul met with his counterpart Talabani just a day after his remarks about the little support received by Turkey on his election. Gul responded yesterday to Talabani's comments saying that he was "very surprised at the remarks" and adding that "on the contrary we did support his candidacy".

In his meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan president Talabani is thought to have focused on economic and political relations between Turkey and Iraq.

The Economic Cooperation Organization was established on 1985 by Turkey, Iran and Pakistan.
