Syria National Dialogue Congress postponed to February

The Syrian National Dialogue Congress that was expected to be held in Sochi, Russia on 2-4 December 2017, has reportedly been postponed to February 2018.

According to information ANF obtained from political lobbies in Moscow, the Syrian National Dialogue Congress, formerly referred to as the Congress of the Peoples of Syria, that was expected to be held in Sochi, Russia on 2-4 December 2017, has been postponed to February 2018. No information is yet available with regards to why the congress has been postponed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Sochi on November 22 and talked about details of the congress.

Putin had also engaged in immense diplomatic activity through telephone conversations before the triple summit in Sochi.

Russian state officials told yesterday that the congress would be held soon after the Geneva meeting.
