Suruç martyrs remembered, freedom for journalists demanded in Ulm

In a demonstration in the German city of Ulm, freedom was demanded for all imprisoned journalists in Turkey and the martyrs of the Suruç massacre were commemorated.

The 'Freedom for Journalists' activity in the German city of Ulm which demands freedom for all jailed journalists in the person of Meşale Tolu, imprisoned since May 1st 2017, continued in its 11th week with a demonstration.

Demonstrators commemorated the martyrs of the Suruç massacre, voiced solidarity with jailed educators on hunger strike Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, and with human rights defender Peter Steudner who has been jailed by Turkey most recently.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation committee Cengiz Doğan welcomed the protesters and stated that in Turkey every dissenter is labelled a terrorist at once.

Speaking after, Young Struggle Co-Spokesperson Gökcan Doğan commemorated the martyrs of Suruç massacre, stating that the Turkish state was responsible for the mass killing of the young people.

The campaign meeting, organised by HDK-Ulm and AGİF, was also attended by members of the ATİK, NAV-DEM, SKB, Anatolia Federation, ADHF, MLPD and SYKP.

The Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) also took part in the demo with a delegation representing its constituents.
