Summaries against 19 HDP MPs for made up charges

Summaries have been prepared against 19 HDP MPs for “not protesting” speeches HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan and Group Deputy Chairperson Fatma Kurtulan gave.

The AKP regime allied  Public Prosecutor’s Office in Amed prepared summaries against several HDP MPs for “not protesting” speeches HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan and Group Deputy Chairperson Fatma Kurtulan gave.

According to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA), the reason for the summaries was cited as Buldan’s speech in the event titled “The Middle Eastern Crisis and the Democratic Nation Solution” held in Demir Hotel in Sur, Amed on October 27-28, 2018 and Fatma Kurtulan reading the press statement in front of the AZC Plaza to protest the detention of over 100 people in the Amed-centered operation on October 9, 2018.

The summaries allege that the HDP MPs “didn’t protest” Buldan and Kurtulan’s words, and thus engaged in “terrorist propaganda”, and have been sent to the Parliament.

Buldan is included in the summaries as “engaging in terrorist propaganda” and “praising a crime/criminal” for her speech, while 11 other MPs are accused of “not protesting”.

Kurtulan is also included for terrorist propaganda and praising a crime/criminal, and 8 other MPs are included because they didn’t protest. Kurtulan also has another count of “not protesting” Buldan’s speech.

The MPs who are being accused of “not protesting” Buldan and Kurtulan are Sait Dede, Semra Guzel, Tayip Temel, Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu, Omer Ocalan, Sevin Coskun, Gulistan Kilic Kocyigit, Mehmet Rustu Tiryaki, Meral Danis Bestas, Fatma Kurtulan, Remziye Tosun, Tuma Celik, Abdullah Koc, Serpil Kemalbay, Bedia Ozgokce Ertan, Pero Dundar, Salihe Aydeniz, Ebru Gunay and Nuran Imir.

HDP Agri MP and Parliamentary Justice Commission Member Abdullah Koc spoke to the MA and said the summaries are “ridiculous”.

Koc said the summaries in question are “an example of making up crimes without laws” and added: “When you look at it from a legal perspective, all the public servants involved should be investigated. Every single person in Istanbul should be put on trial for not protesting that instant. It would also be a crime for anybody in Agri to not protest. The President, for example, would be guilty of this same crime. Following the logic in the summaries, 81 million people have committed the crime of not protesting. This is a typical Nazi Germany understanding of the law. It is that broken and ridiculous of a logic.”
