Strasbourg hunger strikers: Help the people of Rojhilat

Hunger strikers in Strasbourg issued a message regarding the floods in Rojhilat: “Our pain is one, your case is one”, they said asking people to help the population in distress.

The 14 hunger strikers in Strasbourg issued a statement about the floods in Rojhilat.

Speaking on behalf of the activists, Agit Ural called for action to help the people wounded following the devastation caused by floods in Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat).

“We need to show strong solidarity - said Ural - to help our people in Rojhilat that suffered from the flood disaster, to overcome this difficult situation.”

Ural added: “Our pain is one, our cause is one, our idea is one. We must help each other in the hard days. We must collect and deliver aid to our people.”

Agit Ural said he believed that the Kurdish people would respond with solidarity to the victims of the floods and added that all 14 hunger strikers will send help to Rojhilat.

The flood disasters caused by heavy rains in Iran since 19 March have provoked many deaths in Eastern Kurdistan.

So far it has been claimed that 62 people lost their life, but the figure could reach 200 and more. Many villages and towns are still unreachable as roads have been flooded.

Following the floods, a campaign to help the people in Rojhilat was launched by Kurdish Red Crescent Heyva Sor a Kurdistan.
