A Turkish Court has approved Siirt mayor Selim Sadak’s objection to his dismissal from office by the Council of State.
Mayor Sadak was dismissed from his office following the approval of the ten-month prison sentence Diyarbakýr 5th High Criminal Court handed down in 2008 on the grounds of a speech he made at the funeral ceremony of a Kurdish guerrilla in 2006.
The people and political institutions of Siirt have strongly protested against the dismissal of Sadak who, according to the new court decision, will remain in his office till the end of five-year mandate he was elected to.
