Sentences announced in Stuttgart PKK trial

In the PKK trial in Stuttgart, which has been going on for two years, the five defendants have been sentenced. The arrest warrant against Özkan T. was lifted; he was received by acquaintances in front of the court.

In the PKK trial in Stuttgart, the State Protection Senate of the Higher Regional Court has announced the verdicts. 39-year-old Veysel S. was sentenced to four years and three months imprisonment, Agit K., including an earlier sentence, to four years, Özkan T. to three years. On the other hand, Evrim A. and Cihan A. each received a suspended sentence of one and a half years.

The arrest warrant for Özkan T. was revoked, and the 32-year-old was welcomed outside the court by relatives and acquaintances. Veysel S. and Agit K. remain in prison.

The five Kurdish activists were arrested in June 2018, and 91 days of hearings have been held in the trial since April 2019. The court's verdict was below the sentence demanded by the federal prosecution. The latter had requested a total sentence of five years and four months for Veysel S.; three years for Agit K. and a total of three years and nine months in connection with another trial; three years and nine months for Özkan T.; one year and ten month-probation for Cihan A. and two years and six months for Evrim A.
