SDF fighters in Deir ez-Zor campaign advance 35 km in 24 hours

Syrian Democratic Forces are making further advances in Deir ez-Zor campaign.

The second phase of the Operation Cizire Storm launched by YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on June 4 to liberate the countryside of Deir ez-Zor from ISIS, continues.

Villages south of Hesekê (Hasakah) have been liberated in the campaign which continues in the eastern parts of Deir ez-Zor at the moment.

During the past 24 hours, SDF fighters have advanced 35 km amid fierce clashes with ISIS gangs in Rawda region.

Speaking to Hawar News Agency (ANHA), SDF fighter Mihemed El-Abid said they are continuing their campaign despite extremely hot weather. He said they are advancing towards Baghous town, stressing that their operations will continue until the region is fully cleared of ISIS.

ISIS gangs sheltering themselves on hills on Rawda region in an attempt to prevent the advance of SDF forces, have been forced to flee from the region after Tuesday’s heavy clashes.

On the other hand, coordinated operations of the SDF and Iraqi army to secure the Syria-Iraq border are also continuing.
