Rasmussen: Turkey can solve PKK problem

General Secretary of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen said there is no need for an intervention of the alliance to solve the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) problem.

Rasmussen spoke to the reporters on the eve of the meeting of Foreign and Defence Ministers of the NATO members about Turkey and PKK.

He said that he believes Turkey can solve the PKK problem by itself. He labeled PKK as an internal problem of the country saying that Turkey won't need intervention of NATO.

"I hope we will see the end of the terror attacks in the near future" he said.

Rasmussen visited Turkey and met with Turkish officials for talks on Cyprus and NATO's new strategy.

The visit was part of a tour he is making ahead of NATO's November summit in Lisbon.
