Prisoner Yilmaz refused treatment and he is sent back to prison

Nizamettin Yilmaz, who is on hunger strike in Mardin E Type Closed Prison, refused treatment at Mardin State Hospital, after been hospitalised. Yilmaz was therefore taken to prison again.

Nizamettin Yılmaz, 36, has been on hunger strike against the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan with his brother Şerafettin Yılmaz, 38, in Mardin E Type Closed Prison. Nizamettin Yılmaz was taken to hospital and kept under observation after refusing treatment.

Speaking with Şerafettin Yılmaz, the family learned that Nizamettin’ situation is good. His brother told the family that prisoners want to call on the Human Rights Association (İHD) lawyers to visit them. Yilmaz also lost 10 kilos since he went on hunger strike.

Nizamettin Yilmaz has been in prison since 28 March 2018 and has 4 children. Yilmaz is on trial accused of being a member of an illegal organisation. In his last meeting with his family, he told her: “I will continue my action at home, if I am released. So whatever happens, be ready for me at home.”
