"If you want to live, then live in freedom" - This and similar quotations by Abdullah Ocalan are being promoted throughout Europe as part of a campaign by the Kurdish umbrella organization KCDK-E.
Last week, the Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E called for posters and banners to be hung up everywhere under the motto "The time is ripe - freedom for Rêber Apo". For every day that Abdullah Ocalan had to spend in Turkish captivity since 1999, a picture should be brought to public attention: "Let us express the paradigm of Abdullah Ocalan, which is based on women's liberation, ecology and the coexistence of peoples, through colorful, diverse and creative posters and decorate every place with them. Abdullah Öcalan's ideas represent a hope for the peoples of the world in the face of fascism, barbarism and all forms of oppression. Let us put the images of the women's revolution of Rojava, which is inspired by the ideas of Öcalan, on our posters. Let us show the people Öcalan's groundbreaking thoughts, words and pictures. Apo has been fighting against the Imrali system every day for 21 years. Let's make and hang a poster for each of these days!"
Kurds and other people all over Europe have followed this call. The Kurdish women and youth movements were particularly active. Latest actions in Europe include the following.
In Cologne, youth activists hung up banners on walls and bridges.
In Marseille, Kurdish young activists have been on the road for eight days to put up posters at bus stops and in front of special facilities.
