Police in Van prevent press statement, the people resist

Turkish police blockaded the park in Van where the DBP was to make a press statement. People's resistance continues.

The Democratic Regions Party's (DBP) was going to make a press statement about Kurdish national unity in Van's Feqiyê Teyran Park with the slogan "Now is the time to ensure national unity and freedom" was blocked by the police.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Bedran Öztürk, DBP co-chairs Saliha Aydeniz and Keskin Bayındır and many HDP deputies came to the park for the press statement. The police, who blocked the park with dozens of armoured vehicles, closed the area around the areas around it and closed the entrances and exits.

Party members and many people who were prevented from entering the park began to wait in the side streets. Tension was experienced between the police and the people who frequently shout "Repression cannot deter us" and "Bê Serok jiyan nabe".

A heavy helicopter activity over the area has been reported.
