PM Erdogan will fly to Syria on Monday

Diplomatic talks focused on the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) between Iraq, Iran and Syria are gathering speed. Following his Syria visit, Turkey Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoðan is visiting Damascus on Monday.

Erdoðan is expected to be accompanied by Interior Minister Beþir Atalay. It was reported that Erdoðan will meet with President Beþar Esad on Tuesday. On the agenda of Erdoðan and Esad is once again the fight against

the PKK. Erdoðan is supposed to return to Turkey on Tuesday. In contrast to his other schedule, Erdoðan’s surprise visit wasn’t announced by Prime Ministry Press Center.

It was reported that the decision to meet Esad was taken after the contacts of the Turkish committee in Syria last week.

Last Sunday, Interior Minister Beþir Atalay and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoðlu held conversations in Lazkiye, where they went for Turkey-Syria High Level Strategic Alliance Council Ministers’ meeting. The council meeting decided for the expansion of the Adana Agreement against PKK.

It is reported that the agreement, which includes also the release of PKK members to Turkey and their judgment, is going to be expanded. It is expected that the agreement will be signed by Erdoðan and Syria Prime Minister Naci El Otri in the High Level Strategic Alliance Meeting that will be held in Turkey in December.
