Prisoners affiliated with the PKK have issued a statement saying: " We demand Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom, health, and security."
PKK prisoners held in Tekirdağ No. 1 F-Type Prison sent a message about the ongoing debates surrounding the so-called 'new process'.
The statement said: "The hegemonic powers of capitalist modernity have turned the Middle East into a battlefield through their divide-and-rule policies. We are in the midst of a crisis of apocalyptic proportions. The interventions that began in Palestine and Kurdistan have expanded to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, leaving these countries in devastation."
The statement continued: "At such a historic turning point, when a Mesopotamian-Anatolian alliance is needed more than ever, we find it highly significant that one of the strongest figures capable of making this alliance possible, Abdullah Öcalan, is still being held in absolute isolation on İmralı Island. It is clear that the continuation of this isolation constitutes a great injustice to our people.
As political prisoners in Tekirdağ Prison, we emphasize that Abdullah Öcalan's ability to work freely and under secure conditions is an urgent and essential requirement in order to establish a line of resistance against imperialist aggression at this critical moment in history."
The statement said that "the state and government must act courageously and without delay, assume their responsibility, and completely lift isolation. On this basis, we demand Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom, health, and security. With this statement, we are launching the ‘Raise Your Voice for Freedom’ campaign. We call on all patriotic people and the democratic public with a conscience to join the struggle for peace, freedom, and the brotherhood of peoples as a moral duty."
