PKK Executive Committee has stated that the fascist Turkish army has launched aerial bombings by fighter jets and a land operation for invasion against Rojava Kurdistan’s Afrin Canton starting from the evening of January 20 and said: “As a result of the AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship’s invasion attacks, dozens of civilians including children have already lost their lives, dozens of others have been wounded and many residential areas have been damaged in the beautiful lands that have been the most stable region in Syria and Rojava in the last 5 years and that Kurds, Arabs and Turkmens have lived together in fraternity on the foundation of democratic autonomy.”
The PKK statement continued to point out the following:
“The Turkish state’s government whose Syrian policies have completely failed is trying to become relevant again through this aggression. It is very clear that the AKP-MHP fascism wants to avenge the Raqqa defeat of ISIS through an attack on Afrin. Like they tried to take revenge for the Kobanê defeat of ISIS on the people of Northern Kurdistan with the July 24 attack in 2015, now they want to take revenge for the defeat they experienced in the face of the heroic resistance by the people and guerilla of Northern Kurdistan on the people of Afrin.”
“Afrin and the whole of Rojava will be AKP-MHP fascism’s grave. Those who attempt to de-Kurdify Afrin or destroy the Rojava Freedom Revolution will themselves fall in the face of the resistance for freedom in Afrin and Rojava, and they will be sent to the trash cans of history. On this basis, we believe that the people of Afrin and the freedom forces will end the AKP-MHP fascism with the heroic resistance they will develop.”
“Today is the day to object to fascism, colonialism and genocide, and to show solidarity with the Kurdish freedom struggle. On this basis, we are calling on the peoples of the Middle East and all democrats throughout humanity to object to the AKP-MHP fascism’s massacres and attacks and to support the Afrin resistance.”
