People of Deir ez-Zor protest Assad’s comments against SDF

People of Deir ez-Zor staged a demonstration in protest at Syrian regime President Bashar Assad’s comments against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

A large crowd staged a demonstration in Cezra, a town of Deir ez-Zor Governate in protest at Syrian regime President Bashar Assad’s comments that “Kurds are betraying their country by their alliance with the US.”

Hundreds of people including opinion leaders and tribal elders gathered in front of the Women’s House in town centre. Protestors carried banners that read “No for the centralization of Ba’ath regime, yes for democracy and diversity” and “We reject the Ba’ath regime’s threats harming Syrian democracy and diversity”. The crowd chanted “Long live democratic Syria”, “Long live the brotherhood of peoples” as they marched under the flags of SDF, Deir ez-Zor Civil Council and Syrian Democratic Youth’s Council.

After the march the crowd held a rally in front of Deir ez-Zor Civil Council building to show their support to SDF and anger toward the Syrian regime.

Speaking on behalf of Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, Mihemed Ebduleziz remarked that after seven years of the Syrian revolution, there are still gangs in Syria which are loyal to Iran and Turkey, and their purpose is to create trouble within the local community.

Ebduleziz pointed out the resistance of SDF fighters and said, “With their resistance and struggle, SDF fighters liberated the region from the gangs. Their fight against the gangs continues. Local people became free and are defending their territory under the lead of SDF. Syrian regime and its president Bashar Assad should be tried by the resisting people of Syria. The resistance of our people will continue until the end.

After Ebduleziz’s speech the protestors ended their demonstration with slogans in support of the SDF.
