Paris 10th arrondissement pays tribute to Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez

Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were commemorated at the Paris 10th arrondissement mayor Alexandra Cordebard.

An event was organized in Paris 10th arrondissement to commemorate Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez, who were murdered in the French capital on 9 January 2013. The event took place on Tuesday evening and was attended by mayor Alexandra Cordebard, who said that they will not forget this massacre and will not let it be forgotten. The mayor once again criticized the state secrecy over the massacre file and added that she and her entire team were in solidarity with the Kurdish people.

Cordebard said that the French people are indebted to the Kurds in the name of democracy, as they defended democracy by fighting against ISIS.

Berivan Fırat, CDK-F Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, underlined that one of those women who fought against the Islamic State in Raqqa was Evin Goyî, who was killed in Paris in 2022.

Fırat added that "the 2013 massacre was quickly classified as a terrorist case, but justice could not be served due to the file being kept under state secrecy. This situation paved the way for another massacre on 23 December 2022."

Berivan Fırat criticized the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gerald Darmanin, for classifying this attack as a racist attack.

The commemoration continued with the screening of the documentary "Three Women to be Murdered".

After the documentary, the lawyer of the case, Sylvie Boitel said: "We were aware of Ömer Güney's illness. So we tried to get a quick response from Turkey, but all our efforts were in vain."
