The Paris City Council has awarded Leyla Guven with honorary citizenship on Councillor Danielle Simonnet’s appeal.
The appeal to award honorary citizenship to the HDP MP and DTK Co-chair Leyla Guven was put to a vote in the Paris City Council.
The Council approved the honorary citizenship of Leyla Guven on a majority vote. Left Party, Communist Party of France, France Insoumise and the Greens backed the appeal.
Simonnet issued a message on her Twitter account and said: “Victory! My appeal to award HDP MP Leyla Guven who is on a hunger strike with honorary citizenship and to support the Kurdish people victimized by Erdogan has been adopted by the Paris City Council.”
