Over 20,000 work-related death since the AKP came to power

The highest number of death in the work place or work-related in Turkey and Kurdistan has taken place during the AKP government. More than 20,000 people lost their lives in 17 years. In Şırnak, 14 workers lost their lives in the mines in the last 2 years.

Since the AKP came to power in 2002, more than 20,000 workers have lost their lives in work-related accidents.

Tens of thousands of workers lost their lives, in Zonguldak, Soma, Ermenek, Sirvan, Şırnak, while the AKP blamed "accidents, fate and nature" for the events.

Şırnak is one of the cities where work-related accidents are very frequent.

In the last two years, in the mines in Şırnak 14 workers lost their life, while more than 20,000 workers lost their lives in the whole of Turkey and Kurdistan during the various AKP governments, according to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) council.

HDP Şırnak MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz spoke to ANF about the work-related accidents and the mines. Many people lost their lives due to the lack of safety, reminded Kaçmaz, adding: "Labor laws are not applied in Şırnak. Workers are not provided safety. In Şırnak mines the laws of some 100 years ago are still in place. There are more than 10 coal mines in the region. The AKP gave the license to its supporters."
