A statement has been published on the official website of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) about an operation against ISIS in Deir ez-Zor.

The statement reads as follows;

“Movements of ISIS and Al-Qaeda sleeper cells and some circles of the Syrian regime have been observed in Deir ez-Zor region recently. Seeking to target civilians, these gangs have caused the martyrdom of several civilians and soldiers by means of car and motorcycle bombs and explosive devices planted on the roads in previous terms.

To meet the demands of the city population and tribes in the region, we have launched an operation in villages of the city to clear the region of the gangs. The operation was carried out on two axes, one being Margada and the other al-Basira town. During the operation which was conducted in line with important information obtained, several terrorists were captured with bomb-laden vehicles, arms and mines, and all their materials were destroyed.

The operation by Deir ez-Zor Military Council has been accomplished with success. The captured terrorists will be handed over to judicial authorities.”
