Occitania donates 100,000 euros to Rojava

The region of Occitania in southern France is donating 100,000 euros for medical care for people in north-eastern Syria.

The Regional Council of Occitania (Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée) in the South of France has decided to make a donation of 100,000 euros to supply the people of Northern and Eastern Syria. The donation is a sign of solidarity and will help meet the equipment and logistics needs of hospitals in the region, said Guillaume Cros of the EELV (Greens and Ecologists) at a Regional Council meeting.

According to the United Nations, 180,000 people have been displaced from Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain) and Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) since the beginning of Turkey’s war against North and East Syria on 9 October. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria reports that nearly 300,000 people have been forced to flee as a result of the attacks.
