No plans to lower the election threshold

Turkish deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said there are no plans to lower the 10 percent election threshold for the upcoming elections.

Cicek said that it's necessary to keep the existing election threshold for political stability.

He pointed that Turkey needs stability before solving the parliamentary representation problem.

Speaking to CNN Turk Cicek said that the process on Kurdish Question is open to surprises and warned that there may be provocative actions to stop the so-called Kurdish Opening.

On the other hand Turkish Head of State Abdullah Gul said he did not make any statements regarding lowering the election threshold in yesterdays speech in the Turkish parliament.

Lowering the 10 percent election threshold is a key demand of the Kurdish parties from the Turkish government.
