Kurdish New Year Newroz was celebrated with the participation of Kurds and Italians at the Ararat Kurdish Cultural Center in Rome. Many representatives of non-governmental organizations also attended the event and made speeches.

Amedeo Ciaccheri, Mayor of Rome Municipio VIII and Spokesperson of the Rome Freedoms Movement, Vincenzo Milucci from the COBAS Workers Confederation, Osvaldo Guirano from the Rete Kurdistan, Fatma Çelik Can from the Rome Kurdish Commune delivered speeches.

The participants condemned the closure case against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey. The ongoing hunger strike resistance in Turkey’s prisons to end the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was also addressed.

The celebration continued with the burning of the Newroz fire by the martyrs' families and concluded with dances and slogans.
