New mass grave found in Bitlis

DIHA agency reports of a new mass grave discovered in the countryside of Tatvan district of Bitlis. Apparently the bodies are those of 33 Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) members who lost their life in 1999 in an armed conflict. Two families applied to the Human Rights Association (IHD) Diyarbakýr Branch for legal assistance to bury the bodies of their children.

IHD investigated the allegations and appealed to the Tatvan and Van Public Prosecution Offices. According to local sources, there are approximately 30 mass graves around the region.

The families are now waiting for an answer from the state authorities.
