MEP Michels from the Left Party visits hunger strikers in Berlin

MEP Martina Michels from German Left Party has visited the participants of hunger strike for Öcalan in Berlin.

The hunger strike launched in German capital city Berlin in solidarity with DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven, who is on the 34th day of her hunger strike against the aggravated isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues on its sixth day.

MEP Martina Michels from German Left Party (Die Linke) has visited the hunger strikers at Kurdish society center NAV-DEM on Tuesday. Michels listened to the activists and listened to their demands, and was submitted a file by the activists about their action.

Michels said; “We support you and your action wholeheartedly. We know what is going on in Kurdistan, and we are following the developments closely.”

Michels stated that they will take the subject of hunger strikes to the European Parliament agenda, adding that their efforts also continue for the freedom of HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtas.

Michels noted that they will try to get an appointment for a meeting with authorities in the Federal Parliament of Germany on Wednesday.

The Left Party politician said other MPs in Berlin will also be following the hunger strike action, giving the message “we stand with you”.
