Memorial for Şahin Amed and Zana Med in Bern

A commemoration event for HPG fighter Zana Med and YPG commander Şahin Amed took place in Bern.

Kurdish martyrs Zana Med and Şahin Amed were remembered at a memorial service in the Kurdish Community Centre in Bern, Switzerland.

Şahin Amed (Mehmet Balcık) was YPG commander and died of a heart condition on 11 July in Hesekê. Zana Med (Abdullah Kaya) was an HPG fighter and died on August 27, 2019 in the fight against the Turkish army in Dersim.

The event, organized by the Commission of Martyrs’ Families, was attended by relatives of Şahin Amed and Zana Med, among many other people. The programme was opened with a minute of silence for all the martyrs of the Kurdish liberation struggle. Afterwards the struggle of the martyrs was honoured and a video about the life of Şahin Amed and Zana Med was shown. The event ended with the slogan "Şehîd Namirin" (Martyrs are immortal).
