Mayor of Sirnak was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment
Mayor of Sirnak, Ramazan Uysal was given 7 years 1 month imprisonment on account of “acting on behalf of an outlawed organisation without being a member of it” and “disseminating propaganda for an outlawed organisation”
Uysal was on trial over his speech which he delivered in a protest in Sirnak on 15 February 2010, the anniversary of the plot against the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.
While Uysal himself was not present at the court himself he was represented by his lawyer. At the end of the trial the Diyarbakir Heavy Criminal Nr. 4 rejected acquittal demands and sentenced Ramazan Uysal to imprisonment.
