On the 11th day of the Long March, which was launched on 21 January within the framework of the “Freedom for Öcalan, Political Solution to the Kurdish Question” initiative, a demonstration was held in Bastille Square in Paris, to expose the isolation, torture and genocide system implemented in Imrali.
The action was held in the place where the Bastille prison once was. The Kurdish activists displayed 26 isolation cells representing the 26 years of isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali.
Women, young people, lawyers, politicians, artists and workers participated in the action. Handouts in French describing the lawlessness faced in Imrali by Öcalan were distributed to passersby.
The activists called on everyone to increase the struggle against isolation and to participate in the central march and rally to be held in Strasbourg on 15 February, the date on which Öcalan was captured in Kenya as the result of an international conspiracy.
The Long March will continue with different events in different cities until February 15, when the Strasbourg action will take place.
