The 26-day “Long March” launched in France on 21 January continued on its 18th day. The action, which draws public attention to Öcalan’s 26 years of captivity in the İmralı Island Prison in Turkey, is organised as part of the international campaign launched in October 2023, demanding “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question”.
Today, the activists gathered at the Maison de la Culture square in Amiens and met with Kurdish citizens and friends. The action, which was also attended by activists from the Communist Party of France, continued with great enthusiasm. During the march, the activists distributed leaflets to the people living in Amiens and met with great interest from the public.
Today’s stage of the march was concluded in front of Amiens station, where the activists made the following statement: “The aim of our action is to ensure the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Recently, there have been some developments to this end. We continue our action with great morale and belief. We will conclude our action in Strasbourg on February 15th, which marks a “Black Day” for the Kurdish people. We believe that this year's February 15th will be the beginning of our bright future. Leader Öcalan is expected to make a historic call. We invite all Kurdish people, our friends and the comrades of Leader Öcalan to attend the central march and rally in Strasbourg on February 15th.”
The march will continue in Chauny tomorrow, on its 19th day.
