While actions for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a democratic solution to the Kurdish question continue, imprisoned Kurdish politician Leyla Güven wrote a letter of appeal from Sincan Women's Closed Prison where she is held. Güven sent the letter to 16 embassies in Ankara and appealed to diplomatic missions for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question. In the letter, Leyla Güven emphasised that the peaceful solution passes through İmralı, where Abdullah Öcalan has been held since 1999, and pointed out the need for a new solution process.

Leyla Güven emphasised the need to take responsibility for peace and a new process, underlining that the deepening isolation conditions, violations of rights and torture in prisons in Turkey, especially in İmralı, will not end unless a new process is initiated with the Kurds. Remarking that overcoming the current political crisis is possible with a new solution process, she said, "You have a responsibility while the Kurdish country is divided into four parts. Take a role immediately."

Stating that Kurds should play a role for a solution and the voice of Kurds should be heard more, Güven pointed to İmralı as the address. The Kurdish politician emphasised that Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in isolation in İmralı, is the main interlocutor for the democratic solution of the Kurdish question.

Güven sent the letter to the following embassies in Ankara: Embassy of the USA, Embassy of Germany, Embassy of Austria, Embassy of Belgium, Embassy of the United Kingdom (UK), Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, Embassy of France, Embassy of Finland, Embassy of the Netherlands, Embassy of Spain, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Italy, Embassy of Canada, Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, Embassy of Portugal, Embassy of Greece.
