Letter campaign to the UN continues in Biel

Letter campaign to the UN demanding freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues in Biel.

In Biel, letters have been sent to UN Secretary General António Guterres in a collective action. The letter campaign was initiated in January by the South African trade union federation COSATU and the Kurdish Human Rights Action Group (KHRAG) in South Africa. The aim of a coordinated international solidarity campaign is to persuade the UN to act for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and a just peace in Turkey.

Kurdish activists have sent their letters containing the mentioned demands to Guterres in Biel, Switzerland today.  Over 150 letters with the signatures collected by Martyr Mahir Kurdish Community Center (CDK-Biel) were posted.

The statement on behalf of CDK-Biel said: “We will raise our voices and shout our demands everywhere until the letter campaign accomplishes a result and our demands are met.”
