Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) made an examination in Yeniköy Cemetery where locals found filled blood tubes in Bağlar district of Amed.
During a visit to their relatives on the first day of the Eid, people came across full blood tubes buried in the ground in the nameless section of the Yeniköy Cemetery in Amed (Diyarbakır) on Thursday.
Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) visited the cemetery following the reports. ÖHD member Gulan Çağın Kaleli announced the first data collected following an examination.
"We found out that there are nearly a hundred tubes. Some tubes were still under the ground, some were removed, some were broken, some still had blood in liquid form, some had gore, and some had yellow fluids," said Kaleli.
“There are names of some people written on these tubes. The blood tubes have ATK (Forensic Medicine Institution) numbers belonging to the years 2015 and 2017. For now, we don't have detailed information on why these tubes are here and when they were buried,” the lawyer explained.
Kaleli said that the ÖHD informed the authorities in order for the necessary legal proceedings to be initiated. “We are waiting for the teams for crime scene investigation. After this investigation, we will share our report with the public and we will take legal action,” Kaleli concluded.
