Làbas Bologna organized a number of actions in Bologna to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê.

During a female soccer match between HSL Leonesse and Riccione, a banner was unfurled to celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê.

The activists and supporters of HSL also shared a statement drawing a parallelism with resistance at Tishrin Dam. 

The statement said: "Today we celebrate 10 years since the liberation of Kobanê. This victory marked a watershed in the war against ISIS, the infamous militiamen of the Islamic State who tried to establish a hell on earth made up of religious fundamentalism, slavery of women and oppression of people. In that battle, the Kurdish YPJ and YPG fighters were in the front row: their sacrifice meant the possibility for millions of people to take back their lives."

The statement added: "The anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê has an even more important meaning at this historical juncture: for over a month the pro-Turkish militias of the Syrian National Army, including numerous militiamen with ISIS patches on their shoulders, supported by air by state drones Turkish, are threatening the existence of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES).

At this moment, the resistance of the YPJ, YPG and the SDF is focused on the Tishrin Dam, one focal point for the defense of Kobanê. The dam has been under attack for weeks and risks collapsing under Turkish drone bombing; from the first days of resistance, spontaneous convoys of hundreds and hundreds of civilians from neighboring districts organized themselves to defend the Tishrin dam with their own bodies."

Nonetheless, said the statement, "the Turkish artillery is carrying out massacres by directly targeting the garrison, bombing the ambulances transporting the wounded and killing journalists who try to keep the spotlight on what is happening. We have a historical and moral duty to stand alongside the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and denounce the role of Turkey and its Neo-Ottoman imperialist project in the Middle East. May the spirit of Kobane resistance proliferate everywhere."
